Back to work

A snow covered ground and blue skies make for good reflected light in the studio – it is time to get back to work.  Currently I working on a series of Emily Dickinson books.  The images shown here are from a completed series,  Sweet Things Wrapped in Words.  The lettering is a modern Carolingian hand written in watercolor on Katie MacGregor’s handmade muslin paper.  The flower images are painted in watercolor with paper collage.  The books are bound by Joelle Leavitt Webber, Mermaid Bindery, in silk fabric with a painted label on the cover of the book.  The text for the series was used with kind permission of the publishers and the Trustees of Amherst College from The Poems of Emily Dickinson, Thomas H. Johnston, ed., Cambridge,

Massachusetts: The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, Copyright © 1951, 1955, 1979, 1983 by the President and Fellows of Harvard College.

Included in this post are examples of the binding, a page spread from the series, and a close-up of illustration and lettering.

I look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Yes, time to get back to work. I love the ED poems and how you are interpreting them.

  2. What a beautiful sight, these blooming pages, while we all sit buried in SNOW!
